Weight Loss

STS is the official trainer for the Weight Loss Institute of Arizona. Along with speaking at the support groups on a monthly basis, each patient is entitled to meet with one of STS' trainers. STS is proud to be working with Child Obesity Center a non profit organization that specializes in educating overweight children and their families and the benefits and know how to lead healthy lives

Scott Keppel, owner of Scott’s Training Systems, has helped a number of clients obtain their weight loss goals including himself. Scott used to weigh 220 lbs and had a 36" waist and got down to 154 lbs and a 27 ½" for his first natural bodybuilding show. Achieving this goal has helped Scott to better understand the ups and downs that some individuals may experience when trying to lose those unwanted inches. He is also the winning trainer for News Channel 3's weight loss challenge in 2003. His client Beverly Sills lost over 42 lbs and went from a size 20 to a 9-10 in 21 weeks (results will vary with each individual). Scott has several other clients with him now that have lost over 35lbs individually. Read testimonials to learn more about what his clients think of his training.

Flash forward to 2005 and once again Scott’s Training Systems helps contestant Beth win the News Channel 3's Weight Loss Challenge 2005! Beth lost 34 lbs, and 25 inches in just 20 weeks! Our sincerest congratulations go to Beth for implementing her customized fitness plan developed by Scott’s Training Systems. The top three pictures to the right are from the final weigh in.

Scott’s Training Systems believes weight loss goals should be set in small increments and require a lifestyle change, not just a quick fix. STS feels it is important to educate individuals on the importance of making "healthy" choices with food and exercise in order to lead a healthy life. Scott takes the philosophy of eating small frequent meals throughout the day to keep the metabolism going. He also believes each meal should contain some protein and refined carbohydrates (breads, pasta, junk food, etc) should be kept at a minimum. He does not believe in getting rid of carbs or fat. The goal is to keep foods in moderation. Scott’s Training Systems will help each client develop an individual meal plan. Scott’s Training Systems also works closely with a nutritionist and a dietician which we will sometimes refer to clients who may wish more nutritional education.

Scott’s Training Systems workouts for people who want to lose weight are typically dynamic and include cardio and abdominals throughout the workout as well as at the end (after an initial FREE CONSULATION we will determine what kind of workout is best). The goal of the workouts is to burn as many calories as possible while building lean muscle. One pound of muscle will burn 20-30 calories per hour while a pound of fat only burns 3-5. This is why it is so important to build lean muscle. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn and the more fat you lose. Scott is a strong believer in changing an individual's workout each time. This way the body can not adapt and the client does not get bored. Scott will also write a workout for the client to do on their own if they are lifting on days when they are not with Scott (this varies with each individual's goal).
