When my wife Melissa was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer back in July of 2011, our lives changed forever.
We faced the cancer diagnosis together as a family and gave Melissa the support she needed to fight this disease that affects 1 in 8 women in the United States.
I decided to use my fitness training to help her exercise after going through treatment.
I received a certification titled “Breast Cancer Recovery Exercise Program”.
I was not only able to set up a program for Melissa to follow after her treatment, but I showed her how to do those exercises safely.
This certification opened the doors for me to help other women battling breast cancer both during treatment and after diagnosis.
It also helped me when Melissa was re-diagnosed in 2014, and underwent a double mastectomy.
While exercise is important, so is nutrition.
I enlisted the expertise of other health professionals in the Valley to help me create a plan showing the women how food impacts the way they feel and tips to live a healthier life in general.
My purpose is to empower the survivors and help them realize they’re strong, beautiful women who should be proud of what they have endured, not embarrassed of it or the scars it has left.
