People assume I eat clean all the time. They think my favorite thing to eat is salad with some chicken, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

I believe nutrition, just like anything in life, is about balance. I do eat “clean” most of the time. I stay away from refined carbs, trans fatty acids and the foods and drinks associated with them.

However, I do like having pizza and drinking beer from time to time. Unlike my eating habits when I was younger, I have learned to enjoy both of them in moderation.

A typical “reward meal” for me is a side salad with no dressing, 3 to 4 pieces of gluten free pizza topped with jalapeños, mushrooms and chicken plus 2 beers. The type I like to drink varies, but I have to say craft beer is at the top of my list.

Here is a breakdown of the macronutrients in this meal. These nutrients provide vital functions in the body.

Protein: 24.58 grams

Carbs: 82.78

Fats: 18.2

Calories: 787.16

Remember, this is not a meal that should be eaten all the time. It’s about moderation and being mindful of what you fuel your body with on a regular basis.
